We have seen a change in transportation recently. Cars have long been the most likely mode of transport in developed countries, however bikes are beginning to rise in popularity. Perhaps this because the last couple of decades have seen a major shift in the popularity of “living green.” Maybe it is because the cost of gas is just too high. Using style and fashion preferences as your main criteria is silly, unless you are only getting a bike to look good. Check to see how your bicycle choices rate for both safety and comfort at the very beginning of your search. After ensuring both safety and comfort, see which ones you like the actual design of best.

Be cautious, however, and always be sure to test the bike out before you buy it. You should never buy a bike until you have ridden it first, if only for a couple of minutes. It's exactly the same as buying a used car; you would never find yourself buying a used car without taking it out for a ride.

Why wouldn’t you do the same with a bicycle? You really need to be sure to test it if you plan to spend a good bit on the bicycle or if you are going to be spending a lot of time riding it. You need to make sure the bike is a perfect fit. There shouldn't be a problem in making the decision on whether or not the bike is the right size for you, but you should also keep in mind that it needs to fit your riding style as well. You wouldn't want to spend your hard earned money on something that isn't comfortable, would you?

Be sure to allow room between the crossbar and yourself. When browsing for a bike try some out, make sure the seat is a few inches above the crossbar. Make sure you can place both feet on the ground if need be. Each type of bike will require see here now differing clearance amounts. As an example, with a touring bike you will only require around 1". With a mountain bike a clearance of 3" will be necessary.
